The challenge

A request for primary and secondary packaging of capsules of a drug used for the prevention and treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism. The project was at the early development stage and the client asked for the full set of validations with subsequent engineering study. Tjoapack was asked to validate the packaging design, tooling, and packaging process and produce the commercial order in 12 weeks.

The main challenges during the project were: restrictive parameters for validation requirements and the non-standard size of capsules.

The result

Tjoapack packaged the first commercial batch in under 15 weeks. To tackle the obstacles during the project implementation, Tjoapack:

•Ordered and validated exclusive tooling for the customer

•Brought in a 3rd party to design tooling, packaging, and packaging specifications

•Created a fully automated solution

•Created a dedicated team within Tjoapack, responsible for each stage of the project implementation and packaging design
