We became the first company in Europe to put barcodes on unit dose medicines.

We introduced the polypropylene recyclable blister in the Netherlands.

We secured the patent for inline barcode printing on aluminum foil for blister packs.

We introduced online printing of 2D data matrix codes on blisters.

We participated in an EU track & trace research project involving the use of data matrix codes and RFID tags on packaging throughout Europe. This project was the first of its kind in the EU.

We became the first company in the world to introduce serial number coding from blister to pallet.

We developed an automated in-house printing system for labels.

We developed digital production registration and in-process control software to monitor and review production quality and the overall equipment effectiveness of our lines. This enabled us to reduce the amount of paper used across our operations by 68%.

We expanded our postponement packaging capabilities, enabling late-stage customization of packaging in response to market demand, instead of having to manufacture according to forecasts.

In May 2020 we were partially acquired by Ampersand Capital Partners, a private equity firm specializing in the healthcare sector. The Ampersand team assumed a majority stake in Tjoapack and joined the board of directors along with our founder Eric Tjoa.

In May 2020, our director corporate strategy, Dexter Tjoa was appointed as the new CEO of Tjoapack.

We acquired U.S.-based Pharma Packaging Solutions (PPS), giving us manufacturing capacity in North America.

We launched a new fully automated injectable packaging offering in Europe. We doubled our capacity, including for ambient and cold storage. We also introduced fully automated assembly and packaging for pre-filled syringes and vials in Europe.

We introduced automated injectable packaging at our U.S. site, and expanded our oral solid dose capacity.
