In discussion: Postponement packaging
Widely adopted by the automotive industry, postponement is a logical and beneficial step forward for CPOs, particularly those who are running products in lower volumes or with an unpredictable demand. At first, the process may appear cumbersome, however postponement can increase flexibility, reduce time to market and eliminate waste across the supply chain by preventing repacking and rework at late stages. Whilst the industry is still slow to implement, in the long run, postponement could create the opportunity for patient-specific packaging and direct-to-patient delivery.
